I suppose you are referring to the "Private Case," which was never a room to itself. The Crowley holdings in the Private Case were limited to his few erotic items, namely THE SCENTED GARDEN OF ABDULLAH and WHITE STAINS. As a national library and copyright depository, all manner of books ended up in the British Library including one that were libellous or otherwise violated the law; the ostensible reason for the Private Case (the books were not listed in the general catalogue) was to segregate certain materials from casual browsers. I believe the practice ended several decades ago. --Martin Starr
