Summoning Satan

One evening, when we were all confessing our darkest secrets, Diablo stood
up and moved close to the fire, and this is what he blurted out:

>I sent a copy of the Satanic Bible to someone who thinks that Satan is an
>actual being and wants to summon him using the rituals and Enochian keys.
>
>I didn't have the heart to tell him that that is not what the SB does.
>Am I right, or has someone actually managed to summon Satan?
>
>Diablo

Lupo wrote a fantastic post on this a few weeks ago. Unfortunately I am
too lazy to find it.

I see Satan as an archetype. That is, as a collection of symbols that
manifests naturally in the psyche of a healthy individual. Satan (the
archetype) is not a complex which was the result of socialization or
conditioning; but rather a living facet of an individual's mind which is a
result of genetic inheritance and physiological evolution of the human
brain.

As a result of my definition of Satan, he doesn't really need to
be "summoned" from some external sphere. He can be called up at will from
within oneself.

For many people, the Satanic Bible may be a perfectly valid tool to help
accomplish the "summoning of Satan". Whatever works, right? Either way
though, what happens is an awakening of what is already within oneself.
The "calling forth" is merely allegorical.

That's just my take on the matter. If you get any pictures of the demons
rising up from the depths of the inferno, feel free to post them here. 8*)

Cheers.

That's nice, Victor.

Weak and transitory is man. Already is he behind you, and once again you
find yourself in endless space, in the vast expanses of the inmost
infinity...
