If I remember correctly, your 'model' of the three types of satanism is very
close to the one made by Karl R.H. Frick in his three-volume study. I
believe your third category is what he calls 'romantic satanism', where he
includes 'luciferianism' as a romantic ideal as found with Byron and
Shelley, amongst others. If you read German, you may want to check out
Frick's work "Satan und die Satanisten: Ideengeschichtliche Untersuchungen
zur herkunft der komplexen Gestalt "Luzifer/Satan/Teufel", ihrer weiblichen
Entsprechungen und ihrer Anh=E4ngerscahft." (And yes -- that is the full
title!) Akademische Druck - u. Verlagsanstalt. Graz, 1982. ISBN
3-201-01212-2 (Vol. 1: Das Reich Satans: Luzifer/Satan/Teufel und die Mond-

Satanismus und Freimauerei: Eine Dokumentation bis zur Gegenwart). Vol. 1 is
around 400 p., vol. 2 is 230, and vol.3 is 170. If you don't read German,
the above titles must look like something terrible. But if you do...check
them out. They must represent among the best studies of 'satanism' ever
written, and worth the extra effort even if your German is beyond shaky.
