One can bend energies arising and moving through nature to gently influence results. Shepherds do that with their dogs, cattlemen with their horses, engineers with their dams and swales, psychologists with behavior modification, stage magicians with misdirection, healers with manipulation with the body, etc. Witches and magicians, if sensitive and knowledgeable, can do that through recognising situations and where the 'influence points' [my term] are; they can turn a crowd or influence an outcome or teach a concept to one or many in a way that makes an impact. Shakespeare spook of a 'divinity that shapes our ends'; some research points to the phrase resulting from learning how a worker makes a rush fence, shaping the ends to direct the undulation (and thereby creating the space within separating it from the space without; an imperfect circle or sorts). Some magicworkers believe themselves tools of divinity, trusting instinct or 'calling' to shape short-term ends that leads to shaping long-term ends. That smacks of 'bending' to me. Just a thought... -'Thenie
