In fact, the librarian was confused as to why I wasn't interested : in the books she WAS showing me... about cults and lies and evil and : Satanism. There are several good books for children, though most tend to be fictional -- there are few Pagan intros for children. My recommendations: The "Dark" series by Susan Cooper. Begin with "Over Sea, Under Stone", and if she likes that one move on to "The Dark is Rising", "Greenwitch", "The Grey King", and "Silver on the Tree". Look also for a lovely storybook called "The Moon Flute", by an author whose name escapes me for the moment. For your own interest you may want to look at "The Pagan Family" from Llewellyn. I THINK it was written by John and Caitlin Matthews, but don't quote me on that -- Anyone out there know the book better than I? Other possibilities, which I haven't read myself but which come well-recommended: The Four Elements Series: Earth, Air, Fire and Water; by J.M. Parramon. "Dorrie and the Witch Doctor" by Patricia Coombs. "The Wind in the Willows" by Kenneth Grahame [contains a lovely scene involving Pan]. "Selene, the Most Famous Bull-leaper on Earth" by Z Budapest. "Emir's Education in the Proper Use of Magical Powers" by Jane Roberts. "The Little Prince", by Antoine de St. Exupery [I HAVE read this one, and should have thought of it myself]. "Pagan Kids' Activity Book" by Amber K. [Does anyone know how to get in touch with Amber?] These ought to at least get you started.B*B, -- Paul Suliin and Michele Cox | Experience has shown that men POB 1993 | and nations will often act San Gabriel, CA 91778 | wisely, once they have exhausted 310/719-9097 | all available alternatives.
