****"Wicca 101" Info Sheet, teaching coven of the Three Crescents****
**Please send all e-mail to this account. moonowl@gwis2.circ.gwu.edu**
***** Please do not distribute in full or in part without this header*****

This is a real basic idea of what the class will require and
what the format will be like. Do not hesitate to ask additional questions
before "signing up".

Goal of the class:

To help the solitary student develop their own concept
and tradition of Wicca. Self-Initiation can be a goal if the individual
desires.

Teaching Philosophy:

I will not teach any specific tradition of Wicca (Celtic, Garderian, etc.).
I'm not planning on teaching any one point of view of Wicca, even my own. I
will attempt to draw from as many sources as I can for variety and
exposure.

This will be a "guided" class only. I will try to give a solid framework
to build your own ideals and traditions. This will be a class for self
exploration more than me telling you what to do.

I have taught Wicca classes in virtual format (Internet Relay Chat, and
this course through email) and been a guide and reference for others in
real life for over a year's time. I am also an educator in computers and
Natural science on a volunteer and paid basis. I have been a Solitary
for about three years.

Why am I teaching? This is a muti-part answer: 1) provide a service to
the many who seek teachers and never find them 2) as a way to contine to
explore my own sprituality (students are the best teachers) 3) I feel
teaching is my duty to the Goddess and God and a form of service.

Format:

There will be no "tests" or "assignments" due for my inspection.
Any activities assigned are for your use and evaluation. Discussion
on the results or feelings on any activity will enhance the class for the
group.

About once a week I will email a "lesson". These lessons include:
1) An introduction or lecture from myself 2) Readings (includes FTP
files, quotes from books, all provided in email) 3) Suggested activities or
points of thought. After a few days, I would like some discussion on the
lesson in a mailing list format (details later). Self journals or diaries
are *highly* encouraged.

The class will last around 8-10 weeks with a lesson a week. Depending on
the lesson, each lesson should take no more than 1/2-3/4 hr. to read and
digest. The activities will include meditations, ritual or things to think
about (record thoughts in a journal for self use). How long you spend on
these is up to you to judge. At the end of the course I'll give you a
self-evaluation to help you sum up what you have learned (not memorized!).
It is not an "exam".

Notice that this is a theology style class and not a magic/occult course.
We will have two very basic magic classes, but don't expect more than a
primer.

Here is a basic topic listing:

Class 1 Introduction to Wicca
Class 2 Dieties, prayer and meditation
Class 3 Sacred spaces (altars & circles),
			tools and basic rituals
Class 4 Holidays: the Sabbats and Esbats
Class 5 Magic basics
Class 6 Magic II; some selected "earth" magics and
			other witchery
Class 7 Solitary tradtions, Books of shadows, ritual
				creation and everyday Wicca
Class 8 Should I initiate and is Wicca for me? Self
			    	test.

************************************************************************
Note, I will be away from email 12/17-12/27. Blessed Yule folks!

Please email any additional questions or comments to this address. I would
like to start 1/16/95 so I will need everyone to 'sign up' by sending me
email no later than 1/11/95. I may have to limit the number of students if the
requests become huge. Please consider seriously your dedication to the
class. If you feel you do not have the time or are not ready to take on
this class, I may offer another class at a future date. I will email a
a questionnaire so I can taylor the class to the skill level of the
majority of the students.

Her gifts to you all:
