Please also note that most of the instances of "God's word" have been passed to us (well, to those religions which have hierarchies) through the fallible mouths of priests. Disagreeing with a priest is not disbelieving the deity that priest claims to represent. One of the reasons I am (solitary, eclectic) pagan is that I do not have to endure the intervention of interpreters between me and my Deities. Our communication is direct and immediate. The disadvantage is that it also carries the "Ring of Authenticity" (Aside: should I trademark that??) and I KNOW that She or He has made His/Her wishes known - this is for SURE!! - and when it happens - I KNOW that it's happened and it's genuine. This means that it's also probably perilous to disagree, but it's not forbidden nor does it signify a failure in my faith. -- May the Lord and The Lady prosper your ventures
