Date: Mon, 25 Sep 1995 02:46:37 -0700 Lines: 81 Message-ID: NNTP-Posting-Host: slip-1.slip.net Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII In-Reply-To: Here's a few recomendations for source books of sex magick information: SECRETS OF THE GERMAN SEX MAGICIANS, by Frater U.D., St. Paul MN: Llewellyn, 1991. ISBN 0-87542-773-1 Top of the list. Likely the best book on the subject currently in print. Straightforward and practical, and free of the guarded tone and esoteric references found in most writings on the subject. Also includes sections on autoerotic and homosexual as well as hetrosexual techniques. PRACTICAL SIGIL MAGIC, Frater U.D., St. Paul MN: Llewellyn, 1991. ISBN 0-87542-774-X Much practical information on what one can DO with sex magick. THE ENOCHIAN WORLD OF ALEISTER CROWLEY - ENOCHIAN SEX MAGICK, Chapters 6 & 7, by Crowley, Duquette & Hyatt, Scottsdale AZ; New Falcon, 1991. ISBN 1-56184-029-7 Though based on the Enochian magical system with a Thelemic spin, it gives some background and ritual examples that could be applied to other systems. THE WAY OF THE SECRET LOVER, by Duquette & Hyatt, Scottsdale AZ; New Falcon, 1991. ISBN 1-56184-044-0 Thelemic Sex Magic. Here the emphasis is on the invocation of one's Holy Guardian Angel via the use of hetrosexual magickal operations. Some nice sections on Kabala and the Tarot as background, but I would have liked to have seen more and clearer explanations of the sexual components of their rituals. As it is, if you don't know what the "elixir" is, they're not going to tell you... PACTS WITH THE DEVIL, Chapter 16, by Black & Hyatt, Scottsdale AZ; New Falcon, 1993. ISBN 1-56184-058-0 The dark side of sex magick... MODERN MAGICK - ELEVEN LESSONS IN THE HIGH MAGICKAL ARTS, Lesson 10, by Donald Michael Kraig, St. Paul MN; Llewellyn, 1990. ISBN 0-87542-324-8 And the light side... LIBER KAOS, Chapter 4, pp. 134-141, by Peter J. Carroll, York Beach ME; Samuel Weiser Inc., 1992. ISBN 0-87728-742-2 Carroll's section on "Purple Magic" is one of the clearest expositions of what sex magick is about without the obfuscation and booga-booga. One might include Louis Culling's SEX MAGIC in this list, but I didn't think much of it personally, as it is rather dated and somewhat sexist in it's approach. His recommendation of using champange as a sex magic "potion" is particularly amusing. In addition to the above, there are a number of works by Aleister Crowley and Kenneth Grant that speak of sexual magical practices in more guarded or allegorical terms (often using alchemical analogies). Also there are several "newage" (rhymes with "sewage") tomes on `Tantra for western lovers' and the like which are pretty useless, and fairly intolerable unless you're into stuff like wearing crystals to cleanse your aura... Lastly, there are a number of works by various authors both ancient and modern that deal with specific non-Western types of sexual magick, from Tantric texts of the "Left-Hand" school to Taoist sexual texts, and so on. As these are often obscure, hard to locate, or of varying degrees of readability (and usefullness), they are not listed here. Your public library and occult bookstores are probably your best resource for more information on any of these.
