My take on it is that they are using the wrong fluid. The creative power of the female body is to enable consciousness to descend into matter, creating a new life. Menstrual blood means the egg died, so I find it idiotic to celebrate the female creative power with it (thought its ok for celebrating other things, such as sex for one.) I find it better to celebrate with the fertile mucous that appears just prior to ovulation. This screw-up (pun intended) using menstrual blood has to be something a (duh!) man invented so in that way I find the ritual sexist. Hmmmmm.... That part doesn't bother me. I think it depends on how you look at it. Being the goddess does not = being powerless. Also, both male and female fluids are offered up, so I don't see how one can be said to be the priest and the other something else. Both participants can be seen as priest, priestess, god and goddess and sacrifice, etc... - Peggy - - Peggy -
