Well, now, hold on a minute.

In Vodou we sacrifice animals, there is no two ways about that. Not
all ceremonies require it, but for those that do, we sacrifice
animals. Sometimes we are not required to, but we do so anyway, for
the dual purpose of pleasing the lwa and feeding the congregation.

The animals are chosen according to color and sex. La Sirene would be
given a white female goat, and we even dye the goat blue with laundry
bluing sometimes. Erzulie Dantor's sacrifice is a black female pig,
and no other color pig will do. Baron is given black ram goats,
Carrefour is given a black rooster.

This has nothing to do with bigotry against black people, or with the
equation of "black" with "evil" - that sort of mentality doesn't exist
in Vodou.

Peace and love,
