Xian/High & Low Magick

As I am a beginner in magick, perhaps I am missing the relevence of some of the
terms used here. I would like to know what a Xian is ... sorry if I used it in
the wrong context.

Also, it was my understanding that High and Low Magick were named such because
of where they were developed. High Magick was developed in the cities, by the
wealthy upper class. It was called high because those who practiced it lived
on the more easily defensible hills.

Low magick on the other hand was developed by the farmers and country people,
who wanted to get closer to nature and understand her. They lived in the
valleys (so their crops could get water) hence ... Low Magick.

Of course, I am just a beginner at comparitive magick, so I could be wrong. I
practice High Magick, not because it's better, but because I have a very
analytical mind. It's my thing :). Not because Low Magick is better or worse,
it just doesn't work as well for me because there is too much room to move
around in. In my practice, I do what my mood requires, but within the
framework of the ritual which I am working. For instance in the LBRP, I
visualize a sphere instead of a circle.

I don't think that High Magick is for everyone ... my room mate is a die-hard
Wiccan. She wants nothing to do with a impersonal and unnamable God ... she
needs the personal touch of a Goddess and a God in her life.

Just some thoughts ...
