re the credescence of mysticism amongst the impoverished:
maybe religion supplements where societal power wanes: power in
"invisible realms" ascends where overt observable power is absent.
at this point we might start talking about 'opiates of the masses'.

some probably count rebellion as accomplishment, no doubt.
perhaps the encapsulation of their ego within their family
shell is such an ordeal to escape that they find its break
and crawling out a cathartic experience.

Q	what is it that magicians need to embody
in order to manifest the true power of magic?
	----------------------------------------------
A	magic is the manipulation of the cosmos toward
intentional, desired ends using symbolic means,
and the magician must embody the mechanism tying
the current condition to the desired result in
order to manifest the true power of magic.

anything else is either a wish granted by a
superior being or luck due to being at the
right place at the right time. the first is a
dependent relation, and not the cause; whilst
the second is subject to forces and agents
outside the specific call and timing of the mage.
