Mei In almost all parts of the world, no matter what the culture or religion of the people, it is said that a child born with a veil (hood, caul, amniotic sac over the face) has the gift of second sight or seership. Doctors do not pay attention to these things, so if a child is born with a veil, and you wish to preserve it, it is important to tell the doctor or midwife in advance about your interest in the matter. Most will comply with you. In addition, in England it is said that a child born with a caul cannot die at sea, so many such male children became sailors. In the days of the great British saiing empire, the midwife would dry and preserve the scrap of smniotic sac of any by born with a caul and it would be kept in a small bo, which the young man could carry to sea with him as a talisman against drwning. There was even a trade in the sale of such cauls, as not eveyone born with one wished to become a sailor, and some sailors wished to buy them to secure safety at sea. cat yronwode Lucky W Amulet Archive --------- http://www.luckymojo.com/luckyw.html Lucky Mojo Spells Archive ------ http://www.luckymojo.com/spells.html No personal e-mail, please; just catch me in usenet; i read it daily.
