Most colour symbolism (except red = blood) is arbitrary and varies by
culture. I prefer botanical and zoological examples when explaining the
doctine of signatures: John the Connqueror root looks like a human male
scrotum, hence carrying a John the Connqueror root in the pants pocket
makes a man more virile. Violet leaves are shaped like a heart, so if
you write the name of someone you love on a violet leaf and wear it in
your left shoe, that person will come to love you in return. Racoons
have a long bone in their penis, so if a woman hides a raccoon penis
bone under the marriage bed, her husband's penis will always be hard for
her (he will always "have a boner" in American slang).
