Date: 13 Dec 2002 07:31:59 -0800 Re O'Statwrote in message news: ... > Doesn't make it better or worse than the HOGD...just different. Re, In the years since the split-up of the original order, a *lot* of things have attached themselves to the Golden Dawn system that were not part of the original. The Middle Pillar ritual for instance *was not* taught in Mathers' and Westcott's order, but was a later invention by Dr. Felkin and the Stella Matutina. Nevertheless, it has become a key practice for people who call themselves Golden Dawn magicians. Likewise, the Opening by Watchtower has become a cornerstone of GD work, but it was written by Regardie. So innovation in and of itsef is not a problem for GD legitimacy, as I'm sure you agree. But what you are saying is that the specific innovations of the OSOGD - especially putting Horus in the East - somehow strike at the heart of what the GD is all about. Okay, I'll bite. What *is* the GD all about? What principle lies behind it? And how does that principle make it necessary for Osiris to be in the East? I think there is a good argument to be made for this. Think about it; respond. And don't let us all down with a cop-out like "GD is GD; Thelema is Thelema". Best, - Secret Chief http://bluepyramid.tripod.com
