I read that Unkle Al had met her in > the G.D. Was Crowley not a member of the origonal G.D.? Thanks for asking. Both you and I were both in error. According to the book, The Story of Dion Fortune by Fielding and Collins (P. 38), ³Brodie Innes did not run a break-away movement from the Golden Dawn. He was quite well regarded within that organization and was allowed to run his own particular version of the Golden Dawn system and was given considerable latitude to do so...His group was the Alpha et Omega and was a duly accredited branch of the main order... ³[Dion Fortune] was accepted and initiated into Alpha et Omega about the end of World War I...² According to Kingıs The Rites of Modern Occult Magic (P. 142), Fortune ³was initiated as a Neophyte of the Alpha et Omega in 1919.² And on P. 113. ³...Crowley eventually founded his Order (1907)...² This order was the A.A. which was supposed to supercede the G.D. In 1909 Crowley said he was going to publish the Inner Order rituals which resulted in Mathers getting a restraining order to temporarily stop him. So Crowley was definitely out of the G.D. before 1910. It was 9 years before Fortune joined the G.D. So, here is a summation of the facts: 1) Poke is wrong. Dion Fortune was a member of a legitimate versions of the Golden Dawn using the name Alpha et Omega. 2) I was wrong in saying that she was a member of the S.M. She was a member of another legitimate Golden Dawn group. 3) Crowley could not have met Fortune in the Golden Dawn as he was no longer a member by that time. Re
